This
was a rice dish my mom would make when we had steak or BBQ chicken. I
loved it. As she got more into it, she started experimenting by adding a
little chili power and some garlic power to the mix.
I found this in her recipe box typed on index card. (I remember typing all of her favorite recipes when I was in HS) but also it was on the side of the Minute Rice box.

NOTE:
you can cook bacon for the drippings and then use the bacon, crumbled
in the rice. Add some cheese and it makes a poor-man's casserole. With
children, I'd either mince the green pepper and onion so small they
can't see it or just use onion power.
